Institute of Logistics is a unique part of the faculty covering complex educational, research and expertise activities in the field of industrial logistic and transport logistics. Education is realized within study programmes Industrial Logistics, Enterprise Transport Logistics and within professional education with requalification in the field of ”Logistics”. Research and expertise results are implemented into production and transport systems in all fields of the industry. The Institute realizes research in the fields of:

 Modeling and simulation in transport and risks control;
 Use of programs: MS Office, BAHN – transport simulation program, CATIA (CAD modeling);
 Modeling and calculation of mining conveying, railway, railless and vertical conveying in quarries;
 Design and solution of strategy for development of logistics centers and their conveying connection;
 Prognosis of material and trade flows;
 Allocation and layout of firms, stores, distributive centers, production devices, operations, logistics centers;
 Trends in commercial logistics, i.e. logistics of acquisitions, purchase, supply, sale, customer logistics;
 Measurements and evaluations of efficiency and effectiveness of logistics system of the enterprise with application of controlling approach;
 Planning and prognosis of productions (productions, capacitive, aggregate planning);
 Intra-plant and interoperable conveying in logistics and productions centers;
 Realization of survey for traffic market, formulation of questionnaires and realization of survey;
 Solution of the problems of intelligent transport in the cities;
 Projection and evaluation of effectiveness of business processes from different points of views;
 Projection of supply chain management for specific needs of enterprises;
 Providing of courses from the field of logistics with the opportunity of acquisition of professional degree;
 mechanical testing of materials (by pull, press, bend, impact, including testing of hardness by the DSI method – Depth Sensing Indentation;
 experiences with 3D measurement systems ARAMIS by the principle of DIC method (Digital Image Correlation);
 Experiences in the field of production logistics, logistics of service processes;
 Analysis of technical – economical indicators in the road transport;
 Analysis and simulation of transport problems in urban settlements;
 Experiences in the field of reverse and green logistics;
 Realization of logistics audits;
 Experiences in the problem of conveyor belts, pipe conveyors,
 Digital factory – simulation of logistics systems;
 Application of modern mathematical and statistical methods by creation of new ecological systems of conveying in mining and building industry;
 Solution of these issue in the field of logistics of services, logistics of tourism and measurement of quality of services;
 Theoretical and practical experiences in the field of environmental and managerial systems, systems of management of quality, in the field of statistical methods and computer support of logistics.

Laboratories and technological equipment of Institute of logistics

1. Laboratory of components of conveying devices
 Tests of conveyor belts against breakdown.
2. Laboratory of testing of conveyor belts of pipe conveyors
 Test device for measurement of conveyor belts of pipe conveyors.
3. Laboratory of intelligent production systems – LIVIS and Laboratory of logistics and distribution systems design – LAD
 Computer laboratory.
4. Laboratory of modelling, simulation and projection of logistics and transport systems – LASAP
 Modeling, simulation and projection of logistics and transport systems.
5. Laboratory of steel ropes
 Provides services in the field of testing of steel ropes, chains, clamping devices, textile ropes and escape means;
 Divided into accredited, unaccredited and other activities.
 Testing and Verification Workplace for Rubber Products

It is oriented to determining the mechanical and physical properties of rubber products, instrumentation and implementation of workplace training. The workplace will be provider of accredited tests for users and producers of rubber products. Complex services provided by the Testing and Verification Workplace for Rubber Products will have the character of applied research with a focus on the development of knowledge, abilities, experimental skills and habits of workers from industry. The transfer of knowledge gained by experimental research into practice will be ensured for students. The workplace is primarily objective, and it provides complex services in field of testing and analysis of the raw materials, intermediate products, rubber compounds and rubber products such as tires, conveyor belts and rubber technical products, while achieving a sustainable quality in accordance with new technical standards. Research and development activities of workplace will be in line with development trends in the field of research.

Within the activities of the department, a knowledge system integrating itself in the specialized training for interest groups in the field of producers and users of rubber products will be created. Quality and continuous development of workplace will ensure implementation of the research and development in selected production systems and services, systematic training concept and also the promotion of cooperation with external national and foreign institutions.
